Kreisky, Bruno

(1911-90)
   Austrian politician. Born in Vienna, he was active in the socialist party and studied at the University of Vienna. He moved to Sweden where he worked as a foreign correspondent. In 1951 he returned to Austria and became deputy chief of cabinet in the office of the federal president. Later he was undersecretary of state in the foreign ministry. In 1956 he was elected to the Austrian parliament and served as foreign minister. He was elected chancellor in 1970.
